We toured London yesterday and saw all the tourist sites. Today we visited the Queen at Buckingham Palace and St. Paul's Cathedral. Both are awe inspiring. I know I was to the palace born but that someone switched me in the hospital nursery. No doubt I am a changeling; some imposter has my place. Tonight we will see Chicago at the Cambridge Theatre in Covent Garden. Tomorrow we will see The Jersey Boys in the Prince Edward Theatre in Soho. Of course, as we are visiting royalty, we will have private showings.
I did learn that circus is the Latin word for circle so Piccadilly Circus has no animals or acts; it is merely a roundabout. All of it is memorable, but we saw the Palace Guards marching to the palace. We could have reached out and touched them. Trafalgar Square now has meaning for us. Except for the buildings and history not much is left of British London--there are more people here from parts of the old British Empire than Brits.
