Amsterdam

We took a canal boat cruise. Amsterdam has over 100 canals and over 1,000 bridges. Also, we toured the Rembrandt and Van Gogh Museums. The canal houses are from the 17th and 18th centuries. Because Amsterdam has a housing shortage, many people live in houseboats. It costs 30,000 euros for moorage. It is interesting to see the modern architecture with the old. Some of the suburban areas and industrial parks are ultra modern and very interesting. Dutch society is very tolerant in every aspect of life. A pre-school operates within the Red Light District, which is located in one of the more expensive areas of Amsterdam. People live in very nice apartments above the red light establishments. The Netherlands has little crime because of social pressure and prevention. Very few people are in prison or jail because the society works to prevent the causes of crime. I hope to find an internet cafe soon to download pictures. Amsterdam and Haarlem were very comfortable cities.

Hi Gary and Susan,
I just now looked at your blog for the first time. It's fun to see and hear where you've been. Isn't Europe amazing? I wish I were there with you tramping the streets.
I made it through the triathlon. Barely! There's supposed to be an article about it in the LDN. I'll save it for you.
Have fun!
Marcia

To the World Travelers: Sounds like you are having a great time. Gary, you are going to have to retire, just to rest up! We took the trailer down the Oregon Coast for a week. Beautiful weather here. Is Susan having room for all her packages? We have enjoyed the post cards. You are doing a great job with the blog. We love the pictures! Salty & Judy

GARY AND SUSAN!!!

I just got to look at the blog for the first time! It seems that you guys are really living it up over there in EUROPE! Man, how I wish I was there with you. I love Europe. I think I left my heart there, if you find it, tell it I want it back soon or I am going to have to go back and get it!!! When do you guys get to Spain? I can't wait, Spain is the BEST PLACE ON EARTH. Especially Granada, you have to go to the Alhambra! And have some sangria and tapas for me, of course. I love you and miss you a lot.

Love,
Alex
