Kilkenny and Dublin

Kilkenny (kil means church) was the medieval capital of Ireland and has the largest restored castle in the country.  Dublin is a vibrant and exciting city filled with people and activities.  We took a wonderful tour of Dublin aboard the on-off bus.  Toured Trinity College (fantastic), Christ Church and St. Patrick's Cathedral--so Irish.  Both are Anglican in a Catholic city and country.  There is no Catholic Cathedral in Dublin.  Toured Kilmainham Gaol--learned about the various rebellions, famous prisioners, horrible conditions, and executions.  It was a very valuable tour.  A little Irish humor.  A wife and her friends returned from a night at the pub, walked into the bedroom with a duck under each arm and said to the husband, "What do you think of the pig?"  The husband responded, "You've had too much Guiness.  Those are ducks?"  The wife retored, "I was talking to the ducks."  Off to Edinburgh tomorrow.  I recommend a tour of Ireland--it was wonderful, and I would like to return for a longer stay.

I've been enjoying your posts and pix. Keep them coming. It's hard to believe, Gary, that you haven't been called a "bold, brazen piece." To what obscure (to me) literary piece do we owe that quote? I even went to "the Google" (thank you, John McCain) but to no avail.
